
RAPID CITY, S.D. – Mitchell Kernels volleyball ended its season on Saturday with a 3-0 loss to No. 11 Sioux Falls Jefferson in the seventh place match at the Class AA state tournament in Rapid City. Set scores were 25-22, 25-12, 25-10.
Despite losing six of their last seven matches, Mitchell ends the season with a 16-11 record, a 13 win improvement from 2024 and their first state tournament appearance since 2018.
Nia Talley led the Kernels with 11 kills and 11 digs.
Saturday also marked the final match for four Mitchell seniors; Addie Siemsen (20 assists), Audrey Miller (seven kills), Kenna Soulek (11 digs), and Kambyl Wede (three blocks).
Junior Kenzie Hetland finished the season with 94 blocks to tie the single season school record.
SF Jefferson ends the season with a 13-14 record.
