Mitchell Kernels girls golf holds a one shot lead after the first round of the Class AA girls golf tournament at Hillcrest Country Club in Yankton.
The Kernels shot 331 (+43) on the day, led by Allison Meyerink’s +3 (75). Meyerink is second overall, three shots behind Olivia Braun (E) of Aberdeen Central. Tied for third is Maddie Childs of Mitchell, who shot a +6 (78).
Watertown is also in contention, only two shots behind Mitchell in third place with a 333 (+45).
Quinn Dannenbring is tied for 14th individually for Mitchell after an 87 (+15), while Mia Larson is tied for 26th after a 91 (+19).
The second and final day of the state tournament wraps up on Tuesday.
