PALACE CITY LEGION BASEBALL
— Palace City Post 18 Legion Baseball swept Letcher on Saturday at Drake Field, extending its win streak to five games. Post 18 won 11-1 in six innings and 12-2 in five innings to improve to 15-11 on the season. Noah Bennett had 12 strikeouts over five scoreless innings in game one, allowing just two hits and no walks. Canon Moller and Avery Kaus each had two hits and two RBIs, while Quinton Wilson and Carter McCormick also had two hits. In game two, Nolan Widstrom struck out nine in five innings, while Ethan Hegg drove in three runs. Carter McCormick added three runs scored as a courtesy runner. Post 18 will be at Pierre on Tuesday at 4 pm before returning home to face Sioux Falls Post 15 West on Wednesday at 5 pm.
— Palace City Post 18 Junior Legion will return to action on Tuesday with a doubleheader at Huron starting at 5 p.m.
— Palace City 14-and-under baseball went 1-2 over the weekend at the Bob Tereshinski Tournament in Yankton. Palace City opened with a 3-1 win over Vermillion, but fell 7-1 to Rapid City Post 320 and dropped a 5-4 decision to Yankton. Palace City is now 11-17 on the season and will be at Brookings for a noon doubleheader on Wednesday.
— Palace City 13-and-under baseball went 0-3 in pool play at the Sioux Falls Invitational at Harmodon Park over the weekend. Palace City lost 8-0 to Marshall, Minnesota, 16-2 to Harrisburg and 7-6 to East Grand Forks, Minnesota. Palace City, now 4-24 on the season, visits Brookings Tuesday for a 5 p.m. doubleheader.
SOUTH DAKOTA
— Midco Sports and the University of South Dakota have extended their broadcast and sponsorship partnership, ensuring continued coverage of Coyote athletics across Midco platforms. The agreement keeps Midco as the exclusive telecommunications sponsor of USD Athletics and expands live event coverage, on-demand content, and storytelling features. Coyote Sports Properties will continue managing multimedia rights and sponsorships for the program.
MINNESOTA TWINS
— Connor Prielipp struck out a career-high 10 in six innings, while Ryan Kreidler hit a go-ahead home run in the seventh as the Minnesota Twins defeated the Colorado Rockies 3-2. Prielipp allowed two runs and six hits in a no decision. Kody Clemens homered, Brooks Lee had two singles and Royce Lewis and Trevor Larnach each doubled for Minnesota. The Twins improve to 40-45 on the season and sit two games back in the American League wild card race. Minnesota starts a three-game series at Houston on Monday at 7:10 pm.
RACING
— Doug Clark, a Sprint Car Racing Hall of Famer and longtime flagman at Huset’s Speedway and Knoxville Raceway, has died. He was 73. Clark, a Sioux Falls native, spent about 45 years as a racing official, including decades at two of the sport’s premier tracks. He began his officiating career in 1976 and was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 2016. He is remembered as one of the sport’s most respected flagmen, known for his professionalism and commitment to safety.

Parkston 3, Kimball (Minn.) 0 — Johnny Weber threw a two-hit shutout for Parkston with nine strikeouts. Kaden Holzbauer had two hits with a pair of RBI’s.
AMATEUR BASEBALL – SUNDAY
Parkston Rays 13, Corsica 4 – The Rays scored eight times in the ninth inning. Landon Sudbeck had three RBI’s.
Parkston Mudcats 11, Mt. Vernon 7 – Brayden Jervik with a HR and three RBI’s. Mason Herman picked up the win, going seven innings, allowing two earned runs.
Winner/Colome 8, Dimock-Emery 4 – The Pheasants scored five runs in the seventh inning. Derek Graesser threw eight innings with 15 strikeouts.

— The Canadian Football League says quarterback Brendan Sorsby will not be allowed to sign with any team or be placed on negotiation lists. The 22-year-old was permanently ruled ineligible by the NCAA for sports betting, after admitting to placing thousands of wagers totaling nearly $90,000 during his college career. The CFL cited league integrity in its decision. Sorsby also was denied entry into the NFL supplemental draft and is now expected to wait until the 2027 NFL Draft to pursue a professional career.
NBA
— The Charlotte Hornets continue a major offseason overhaul, trading forward Miles Bridges, a 2029 first-round pick and a 2027 second-round pick to the Phoenix Suns for guard Grayson Allen, forward Royce O’Neale and a 2033 first-round selection. It comes after Charlotte earlier dealt star point guard LaMelo Ball to Minnesota last week. Bridges, the Hornets’ longest-tenured player, averaged 15.9 points in seven seasons with Charlotte.
NFL
— The Buffalo Bills say they will not include O.J. Simpson in their new stadium’s displays as the team moves into a new $2.1 billion facility this season. Team officials said Simpson will not be featured in the team’s “Family Circle” honoring franchise greats. Simpson played nine seasons in Buffalo. The Bills say the decision reflects an organizational choice as they transition from their former stadium. Simpson died in 2024.
— The Minnesota Vikings have completed their football operations overhaul, hiring Trent Kirchner and Andrew Healy as assistant general managers under new GM Nolan Teasley. The team announced that Kirchner, a longtime Seattle Seahawks executive and Minnesota native, will lead scouting operations. Healy joins after 10 seasons with the Cleveland Browns and will head the Vikings’ analytics and research departments.
WNBA
— Natasha Howard scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, while Olivia Miles added 21 points and eight assists as the Minnesota Lynx beat the Dallas Wings 85-77 on Sunday. Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve tied the WNBA’s all-time regular-season coaching wins record with her 379th victory. Reeve, who was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame on Saturday, can break the record Friday against the New York Liberty. Minnesota improved to 15-4. Paige Bueckers led Dallas with 25 points.
— Sonia Citron scored 32 points, including the go-ahead basket with 21 seconds left, as the Washington Mystics outlasted the Portland Fire 124-123 in four overtimes on Sunday, tying the longest game in WNBA history. Washington became the first team in league history with three players scoring at least 27 in the same game.
NASCAR
— Shane van Gisbergen became NASCAR’s winningest active driver on road and street courses Sunday, dominating at Sonoma Raceway for his second straight victory at the track. Van Gisbergen led 74 of the final 83 laps and earned his second win of the season and eighth career road-course victory, moving ahead of Chase Elliott for the active lead. He now sits second all-time behind Jeff Gordon with nine and is tied with Tony Stewart for second on the career list. Chase Briscoe finished second. NASCAR will return to Chicagoland Speedway for the first time in seven years with a 400-mile race on July 5.
LPGA
— Haeran Ryu rallied from a slow start to win the Women’s PGA Championship for her first career major title Sunday at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota. Ryu shot a 2-under 70 to finish at 13-under. The South Korean became the sixth from her country to win the event in the last 12 editions after opening the tournament with a 73. Nelly Korda wrapped up a frustrating weekend to finish with a final round 73 to finish in a four-way tie for eighth, failing to become the third women to win the first three majors of the season.
PGA
— Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland will return Monday morning to decide the Travelers Championship after finishing tied at 21-under par. Scheffler sank an 8-foot par putt on the 18th hole to force the playoff before darkness ended play following a 90-minute weather delay. Hovland closed with a 69, Scheffler shot 68, and Collin Morikawa finished one shot back after firing a final-round 61. The sudden-death playoff begins at 8 a.m.
MLB
— Jarren Duran singled home the winning run to cap a three-run rally in the 10th inning after Boston blew a two-run lead in the ninth as the Red Sox finished a four-game sweep of the New York Yankees with a 5-4 victory. Boston starter Sonny Gray took a no-hitter into the eighth inning, allowing just one hit with nine strikeouts.
— Seiya Suzuki singled in two runs in a three-run 10th inning as the Chicago Cubs held on for a 4-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.
— Rhys Hoskins had a two-run double during a five-run eighth inning as the Cleveland Guardians rallied for a 6-5 victory over the Seattle Mariners.
— Kyle Schwarber became the first major leaguer to reach 30 homers this season with a two-run shot in the seventh inning that sent the Philadelphia Phillies to a 5-4 win over the New York Mets.
— Kansas City’s Carter Jensen extended his franchise-record rookie hitting streak to 19 games as five Royals relievers held the Chicago White Sox scoreless for five innings to end a four-game losing streak with a 5-4 win. Jensen went 3 for 5 with two RBIs to extend the longest active hitting streak in MLB, now the longest by an American League rookie since 2014.
— Robbie Ray outpitched Chris Sale in a matchup of Cy Young Award winners as the San Francisco Giants held off the Atlanta Braves 3-2. Ray allowed just four hits and an unearned run in eight innings. The slumping Braves have dropped six of seven and 12 of 16.
— Freddie Freeman drew a tiebreaking, bases-loaded walk off in the fifth inning and Mookie Betts followed with a two-run single for the Los Angeles Dodgers, who beat the San Diego Padres 4-2. The Dodgers have baseball’s best record at 54-30 and extended their lead to 10 games over the Padres in the NL West.
— Pinch-runner Jarred Kelenic scored the tiebreaking run from second base on a wild pitch in the ninth inning, as the Texas Rangers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 3-2 to complete a four-game sweep.
— Junior Caminero homered in a career-best fourth consecutive game, while Drew Rasmussen threw six shutout innings as the Tampa Bay Rays finished a sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks with a 5-1 victory.
— Christian Walker’s three-run homer highlighted a four-run 10th inning as the Houston Astros rallied to beat the Detroit Tigers 7-5.
— Ryan O’Hearn homered twice in a game for the third time in his career and drove in four runs to help the Pittsburgh Pirates avoid a series sweep with a 9-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds.
