AUSTIN, Texas – South Dakota State basketball fell to No. 6 Texas 103-57 Sunday afternoon at the Moody Center.
The Jackrabbits wrap the non-conference portion of the season with a 10-3 overall record. SDSU finished with 10 wins in the non-conference season for the first time since the 2017-18 season.
Texas opened with a 24-11 lead over the first 10 minutes and never looked back, stretching its lead to 27 halftime and as many as 49 in the second half.
SDSU struggled to find an offensive rhythm, shooting a season-low 37 percent from the floor and committing 21 turnovers. Texas scored 31 points off turnovers and shot 54 percent.
Two Jackrabbits scored in double figures. Brooklyn Meyer and Emilee Fox recorded 13 and 11 points, respectively and combined to shoot 10-of-13 from the field. Meyer also tallied five rebounds but was limited in minutes due to foul trouble.
Haleigh Timmer added eight points, three rebounds and a pair of assists for the Jackrabbits, followed by Paige Meyer and Ellie Colbeck with six points apiece. Mesa Byom had a team-high nine boards.
Justice Carlton paced the Longhorns with 19 points to go with nine rebounds. Taylor Jones had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds while blocking four shots.
Texas finished with a 45-26 advantage in rebounding, including an 18-8 edge on the offensive glass. The Longhorns outscored the Jacks 24-7 in second chance points.

- South Dakota State is 2-2 against ranked opponent this season and 19-42 all-time.
- SDSU gave up more than 100 points since a 110-102 double overtime win at Northern Arizona last season.
