Oklahoma Wildfires Postpones Dakota Wesleyan Women’s First Round NAIA Tournament Game

Dakota Wesleyan women’s basketball had its game vs. The Master’s University postponed on Friday night due to high winds and wildfires in the Langston, Oklahoma, area.

“The NAIA Championship games for DWU Women have been postponed. Everyone is safe, but the location of the games is being evacuated. There will be no more games tonight night and working on the schedule for tomorrow. Please be patient as we work though the schedules.”

In the first game of the night, Langston led Blue Mountain Christian 15-11 at the end of the first quarter before school officials announced a shelter in place, keeping the crowd and teams inside the facility.

Winds in the Langston, Oklahoma, area have been sustained at 40 miles per hour with gusts of 60 mpg. Langston is located just southwest of Stillwater, Oklahoma, in the north central part of the state and has a population of 1,692 people.

Langston and Blue Mountain Christian will play at 3 pm on Saturday, followed by Dakota Wesleyan and The Master’s at 5 pm. The winner will play in the second round on Sunday at 3 pm.
