Palace City Post 18 Closes Home Schedule With Senior Night Doubleheader Against Yankton

MITCHELL, S.D. — Palace City Post 18 wraps up its home schedule Tuesday by hosting Yankton in a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. at Cadwell Park. The twinbill also serves as Senior Night for Post 18 before the team closes the regular season Wednesday with a road doubleheader at Dakota Valley.

Palace City enters the final week of the regular season 18-20 overall and sits No. 11 in the latest Class A playoff standings. If the postseason began today, Post 18 would travel to No. 6 Brookings for a best-of-three first-round series. Palace City trails No. 10 Renner by less than a half-point in the standings while holding nearly a one-point advantage over No. 12 Sioux Falls East.

Palace City dropped both games at Brookings on July 7, 5-1 and 10-1, and will look to improve its playoff position vs. Yankton.

At the plate, Kaiden Allen leads Post 18 with a .354 batting average and 26 RBIs, while Carter McCormick is hitting .349 with a team-high .504 on-base percentage and 35 runs scored. Ian Weber is batting .330, Ethan Hegg is hitting .315 with 21 RBIs, and Jaxson Hartman has a team-best three home runs.

On the mound, McCormick owns a team-best 1.50 ERA with a 4-1 record, while Noah Bennett (3.17 ERA), Tyler Christensen (3.18 ERA), Weber (3.25 ERA) and Allen (2.30 ERA) have all provided key innings this season.

Post 18 is coming off a 10-4 victory over Invictus (Omaha) after finishing 1-3 at the Gopher Classic over the weekend.
