Palace City Post 18 Legion baseball split its final home doubleheader of the regular season Tuesday against Yankton, falling 10-0 in game one before responding with a 12-5 victory in the nightcap.
Yankton’s Sam Gokie dominated the opener, allowing just three hits while striking out seven over seven shutout innings. Gokie also helped seal the win with a three-run home run in the seventh inning.
Palace City bounced back in game two with a strong offensive start, scoring four runs in the first inning and building a 7-0 lead after two innings. Canon Moeller went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, while Ethan Hegg, Kaiden Allen and Dawson Adams each drove in two runs.
Carter McCormick earned the win on the mound for Post 18, allowing three unearned runs on one hit while striking out 12 batters over 5 2/3 innings.
Palace City Post 18 closes the regular season Wednesday with a doubleheader at Dakota Valley.
