“I am excited to announce the hiring of Pat Larson as the next Head Football Coach of the Mitchell Kernels. Coach Larson is a person of incredibly high character and is highly respected by both our student-athletes and his coaching colleagues. His energy and passion for all things Mitchell Kernels is infectious and will serve him well leading our football program. He places a priority on building relationships and developing young people that our school and the Mitchell community will be proud of. I look forward to working with Coach Larson to grow the Mitchell Football program and developing it as an annual contender in 11AA football.” – Cory Aadland

“I am extremely humbled and honored to be chosen as the next head coach of Kernel Football. I am excited for the opportunity to work with the coaching staff and student-athletes to grow and enhance a program that the entire community can continue to be proud of. I will work to ensure that we put a competitive team on the field every week, while using the sport of football to teach life-long lessons that will carry our studentathletes into adulthood. I want to thank all of the coaches who I’ve worked with over the past 19 years, especially Coach Van Overschelde. They have had a big part in molding the coach that I am today.” – Pat Larson, Head Football Coach Coach

Larson replaces Kent Van Overschelde who resigned in February after coaching in the program for 20 years, the last 16 years as Head Coach, leading the Mitchell Kernels to the first state football championship in school history in 2016.
