
RAPID CITY, S.D. — Top-seeded Rapid City Post 22 advanced to the South Dakota Class A Legion Baseball State Tournament championship game with a 12-2 victory over No. 2 Sioux Falls West on Thursday.
Wyatt Reeder led Post 22 with three hits, including a double, and drove in two runs as Rapid City improved to 3-0 in the tournament and earned a spot in Saturday’s title game.
In Thursday’s other games, No. 10 Watertown shut out No. 6 Rapid City Post 320, 7-0, behind a complete-game performance from Jackson McClemans, who allowed six hits and struck out four over seven innings. Marcus Pitkin led Watertown’s offense with a triple, a double and four RBIs.
No. 3 Yankton defeated No. 5 Brookings 10-1 after breaking the game open with seven runs in the seventh inning. Samuel Gokie tossed a complete game, allowing one run on four hits over seven innings.
The tournament continues Friday with an elimination game between Sioux Falls West and Watertown at 5 p.m. CDT, followed by Yankton against Rapid City Post 320 at 8 p.m. CDT. Winners advance to Saturday, while the losing teams are eliminated.
