Mitchell Head Boys Basketball Coach Ryker Kreutzfeldt has been named the KORN Tom Maxwell Coach of the Year at Mitchell’s annual High School Athletic Banquet at the Corn Palace on Wednesday night, May 10.
In his second season as head coach, Kreutzfeldt led the Kernels to the Class AA State Championship game for the first time since 2012.
Mitchell was the #3 seed at this year’s state tournament, finishing the season with a 19-5 record.
The Kernels defeated #6 Pierre in the quarterfinals 60-51. before knocking off #2 Sioux Falls Lincoln in the semifinals 61-59.
