Mitchell Marlins girls hockey had its season come to an end on Friday with a 3-1 loss to Rushmore in the consolation semifinals of the state tournament at the Mitchell Activities Center. Mitchell ends the season with a 7-16 record. Rushmore advances to face No. 5 Aberdeen in the fifth-place game at 1 p.m. Saturday in Mitchell.

USD women’s basketball defeated Denver 61-50 on Friday afternoon to advance to the Summit League Tournament semifinals. Angelina Robles finished with a game-high 21 points, while Patience Williams added 16 points and eight rebounds. Defensively, the Coyotes kept Denver in check through three quarters, holding the Pioneers to 29 points on 23% shooting from the field and 12% from three. USD will play South Dakota State on Saturday at 2:30. The Jackrabbit pregame show starts at 2 pm on KORN News Radio.
USD men’s basketball lost to the No. 5 seed Omaha 76–62 on Friday night in the Summit League Tournament quarterfinals. Vince Buzelis led four Coyotes in double figures with 16 points and 12 rebounds. USD ends the season with a 16-16 record.
SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
South Dakota State baseball picked up a 5-4 win vs. Northwestern on Friday at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. After both teams scored two runs in the first inning, the Jackrabbits tied the game at 4-4 with a pair of runs in the seven inning and the eventually game winning run in the bottom of the eighth. SDSU takes on Minnesota on Saturday at 7 pm.
DAKOTA WESLEYAN
Dakota Wesleyan softball split a pair of games on Friday in Tucson, Arizona, losing to Indiana Wesleyan 12-4, before defeating William Penn (Iowa) 3-1. The Tigers, 10-6 on the season, face Arizona Christian on Saturday at Noon, followed by Indiana Tech at 2:30 pm.
Dakota Wesleyan baseball lost to Southwest Minnesota State 14-2 on Friday in Tucson, Arizona. The two teams play again on Saturday at 11 am.
