During its meeting on Tuesday, the South Dakota High School Activities Association board of directors introduced a new rule regarding fan ejections at school contests.
The policy outlines escalating penalties for ejected spectators, including suspensions from future events.
Additionally, the board approved a $500 fine for schools that employ coaches without the required certifications.
The measure was implemented to address safety concerns, as some schools were found to have falsely claimed that their coaches had completed the necessary courses.
Failure to comply with course requirements may expose schools to potential lawsuits in case of accidents or injuries.
