SDSU Sweeps Kansas City, Moves to 22-0

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – South Dakota State volleyball stretched its win streak to 22 matches Saturday with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-20) sweep over Kansas City at the Swinney Center.

SDSU improves to 22-0 on the season and 11-0 in the Summit League while the Roos drop to 4-18 overall and 2-9 in conference matches. The Jackrabbits hit .350 for the match, their second-best clip of the season, and tallied 48 kills, their second-best in a sweep this year. Five players had at least seven kills.

Sylvie Zgonc again paced the Jackrabbits on offense, tallying 16 kills while hitting .314. She also had eight digs, one solo block and an ace serve. Katie Van Egdom posted eight kills, one shy of her season high.

Middles Madison Burr and Sydni Schetnan and rightside Alyssa Groves contributed seven kills apiece. Burr and Groves each hit north of .700.

Setter Camryn Honn led the team in assists with 19 and digs with nine. Rylee Martin added 17 assists for the Jacks and had one ace. Libero Alia Schlimgen tallied eight digs as well and dished six assists.

Kansas City his .218 for the contest and was led by Kaia Dunford and Ledisi Kpea with nine kills each.

NOTES
SDSU’S 22 wins is its most since 25 wins in 2007. The Jackrabbits also won 22 matches in 2004 and 2006 for their Division I era.
