FARGO, N.D. – South Dakota State volleyball dominated North Dakota State Thursday night at Benton Bunker Fieldhouse, keeping its unbeaten start to the season alive.
Set scores against the Bison went 25-23, 25-14, 25-18. The Jackrabbits improve to 17-0 on the year and 6-0 in Summit League action while NDSU falls to 7-8 overall and 3-3 in the conference.
SDSU’s defense held the Bison to just .072 hitting for the match with only 29 kills. The Jacks tallied 10 blocks as at team, led by seven from Sydni Schetnan (four solo, three assists).
Madison Burr added two solo blocks and a block assist for the Jacks. She tallied 10 kills at a .600 clip. Alyssa Groves also contributed three block assists.
Sylvie Zgonc paced the offense with 15 kills while hitting .282. She contributed six digs, a team-high three aces and a pair of assists. Schetnan and Katie Van Egdom added five kills apiece.
Setter Rylee Martin posted a double-double with 18 assists and 11 digs for SDSU. She also went 2-for-2 on attack attempts and had an ace serve. Camryn Honn recorded 12 assists, six digs and an ace.
SDSU hit .218 with 42 kills as a team and notched seven ace serves. NDSU had three aces and nine blocks.
NDSU’s Ali Hinze had 14 kills and a match-high 17 digs.
NOTES
- SDSU is now 21-79 all-time against NDSU and 5-4 in the Dan Georgalas era (since spring 2021).
- The Jackrabbits’ 17-match win streak is the program’s longest with a 20-0 start in 1975.
