SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Senior Oscar Cluff helped lead the South Dakota State men’s basketball team to a 2-0 start to the season and for his efforts was named The Summit League Men’s Basketball Peak Performer of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Cluff produced two double-double performances during the opening week of the 2024-25 season.
The Sunshine Coast, Australia, native averaged 18.5 points and 14.0 rebounds as SDSU earned an 80-73 victory over McNeese State in the Field of 68 Opening Day Showcase, followed by a down-to-the-wire 80-79 victory on Friday against Long Beach State.
Cluff scored 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in a career-high 35 minutes in SDSU’s win versus the Cowboys. He notched a career-high 23 points and snagged another 14 boards in the win against The Beach. The home victory Friday saw Cluff tie the game with an offensive putback while getting fouled on the play with 1.5 seconds left, then complete the three-point play at the free throw line to hand SDSU a victory in First Bank & Trust Arena.
The weekly honor is the first handed out by The Summit League this season.
South Dakota State travels across the 605 State this week. The Jackrabbits return to action in Summit Arena at The Monument in Rapid City, South Dakota, on Thursday when they take on Northern Colorado. The matchup is slated to begin at 7 p.m. MT.
