Seeling, SDSU Maintain Lead After Two Rounds

MESA, Ariz. – The South Dakota State men’s golf team and Jackrabbit junior Tyler Seeling remain at the top of the team and individual leaderboards, respectively, following the second round of the Summit League Golf Championship Monday at Longbow Golf Club.

The Jacks, who led by eight strokes entering the day, briefly relinquished that lead before their four scorers combined to go 10-under on the final three holes. The Jackrabbits posted a 278 (-6) Monday, one stroke better than their opening-round tally, and are six shots clear of the second-place duo with a total of 557 (-11). The Bison and Golden Eagles own 36-hole totals of 563 (-5).

Seeling posted a 68 (-3) second round and holds a four-shot lead heading into the final day. Seeling’s round featured a hole-out from 135 yards on hole No. 2 for eagle and another eagle on the par-5 15th to pare with three other birdies. The Jacks took advantage of No. 15 going 5-under on that hole alone. Oral Roberts junior Kevin An posted a 67 (-4) and is the closest competitor to Seeling (133; -9) as he trails the leader by four strokes with a 137 (-5) total through two rounds.

Drew Teeter and Bryson Mercier fired 68 (-3) and 69 (-2) rounds, respectively, and are tied for fifth place. Ty Kretz is tied for 26th place (+4) and Jake Olson is tied for 30th place (+5).
