Sioux Falls Gymnasts Allege Title IX Violation Over Sport Cut

Gymnasts from Sioux Falls have filed a complaint alleging that the School District’s decision to eliminate gymnastics as a sport violates Title IX policies.

The complaint argues that this decision will deprive female students of equal opportunities compared to their male counterparts.

Ten plaintiffs, ranging from kindergarteners to high school seniors, are involved in the case, aiming to prevent the sale of gymnastics equipment and the complete discontinuation of the sport.

The complaint emphasizes the importance of gender equity in sports participation, citing data that shows a potential reduction of 32 female athletes if the gymnastics program is dropped.

The Sioux Falls School District declined to comment on the pending litigation.
