Six Mitchell Legion Baseball Players Charged with Rape

The Pennington County State’s Attorney’s office has filed rape charges against six Mitchell Legion baseball players.

In the case, two individuals are facing multiple charges. 18-year-old Hudson Haley is charged with two counts of second-degree rape and one count of aiding and abetting second-degree rape. 19-year-old Landon Waddell faces one count of second-degree rape and two counts of aiding and abetting second-degree rape.

Four others are charged with two counts each: 18-year-old Lincoln Bates, 17-year-old Karter Sibson, 17-year-old Carter Miller and 17-year-old Peyton Mandel. Their charges include one count of second-degree rape and one count of aiding and abetting second-degree rape.

The Mitchell Republic obtained the criminal files through public court records.

According to South Dakota’s eCourt system, charges against the six players were filed on Thursday, August 3,

Three other juveniles are facing charges in juvenile court. Their names are not being released.

The Mitchell Post 18 Legion baseball program was suspended following reports of possible player misconduct in June.

The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation launched an investigation into complaints concerning Mitchell Legion baseball.

Although activities were reinstated briefly, the Mitchell Baseball Association decided to end the 2023 varsity Legion baseball season due to “new information.”

The alleged crime occurred on June 1 during a trip in Rapid City.
