The Alexandria Angels and Brookings Cubs will enter postseason play as South Dakota’s top-ranked amateur baseball teams after holding the No. 1 spots in the final 2026 South Dakota Amateur Baseball Poll released Tuesday.
Alexandria (12-3) topped the Class B rankings, followed by Dell Rapids PBR (14-4), Dell Rapids Mudcats (13-5), Canova Gang (14-6) and Humboldt-Hartford Wood Ducks (14-5). Castlewood, Tabor, Parkston Mudcats and Redfield rounded out the top nine, while Elk Point Colt 45s and Kimball-White Lake Nationals tied for 10th.
Brookings (16-1) claimed the No. 1 ranking in Class A ahead of Harrisburg (21-2), Renner (8-7), Yankton (18-3) and Aberdeen (10-3).
District tournament play begins this week across the state, including the District 5B Tournament in Platte. Top-seeded Alexandria opens against No. 8 Corsica at 6 p.m. Thursday, followed by No. 4 Winner-Colome against No. 5 Platte at 8 p.m.
Friday’s schedule features No. 2 Parkston Mudcats against No. 7 Mount Vernon at 6 p.m., with No. 3 Parkston Devil Rays facing No. 6 Dimock/Emery at 8 p.m.
District 5B will send five teams to the South Dakota Class B State Amateur Baseball Tournament, which begins Aug. 5 in Mitchell.
