South Dakota State hosts the Summit League Championship Sunday through Tuesday at First Bank & Trust Arena. As the No. 1 seed, SDSU has a bye into Monday night’s semifinal against the winner of Denver and North Dakota State. The Jackrabbits are seeking their first Summit League postseason title since 2007.

KEY STORYLINES

  • The Jackrabbits enter the postseason with a 22-3 overall record and just finished the Summit League season at 16-0, the first conference team to go unbeaten since 2019.
  • SDSU repeated as the Summit League’s regular season champions, but look to avenge last season’s title game loss to South Dakota. A championship this week would be the Jackrabbits’ first for the postseason since 2007.
  • Six Jackrabbits earned Summit League year-end honors, headlined by Dan Georglas and Sylvie Zgonc repeating as Coach and Player of the Year, respectively. Madison BurrRylee Martin and Sydni Schetnan were named to the First Team and Hannah Klein landed on the Freshman Team.
  • SDSU is rated 26th in the latest RPI rankings and is the No. 5 non-power-conference team.
  • Sylvie Zgonc led the Summit League during the overall regular season with 4.30 kills and 4.75 points per set. She averages 2.63 digs per set, the top mark among the league’s outside hitters.
  • The SDSU defense ranks third in the country in blocks per set (3.06) and eighth in opponent hitting percentage (.151). Sydni Schetnan is 22nd individually at 1.42 blocks per set.
  • Madison Burr is SDSU’s second-leading scorer with 3.44 points per set. The sophomore averages 2.47 kills and 1.31 blocks per set.
  • Rylee Martin is the Summit League leader with 10.32 assists per set. She is also the top blocker among the conference setters with .61 per set.
  • Joslyn Richardson, SDSU’s libero, averages a team-high 3.15 digs per set. She has 35 aces on the season, which is three shy of Rylee Martin’s program record of 38, which she set in 2024.
