SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The South Dakota State volleyball team swept Belmont Saturday afternoon in the final contest of the Jackrabbit Invitational at the Sanford Pentagon. With the win, SDSU wraps the non-conference season without a loss and is 11-0 for the first time since 2000.
The Jackrabbit defense again led the way, registering 13 blocks as a team and holding the Bruins to just .032 hitting for the match. Belmont hit in the negative in sets one and two.
Freshman Madison Burr tallied seven block assists to pace the Jackrabbits, followed by three block assists and two solo blocks from Sydni Schetnan. Rightsides Alyssa Groves and Annalee Ventling-Brown got in on five and four blocks, respectively.
Sylvie Zgonc notched 11 digs for the defense to go with a match-high 17 kills. She recorded the seventh double-double of her sophomore season.
Schetnan had eight kills and tallied a .500 hitting percentage. Katie Van Egdom matched her season high with seven kills.
Setters Camryn Honn and Rylee Martin added eight digs each while dishing 15 and 14 assists, respectively.
Brooke Gilleland had 12 kills to lead Belmont.
NOTES
- South Dakota State is 11-0 for the first time since 2000. The last time the Jackrabbits won 11 straight at any point in a season was 2004.
- Sydni Schetnan (MVP), Madison Burr and Sylvie Zgonc were named to the all-tournament team.
