South Dakota to face UT Rio Grande Valley at Sanford Pentagon

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The University of South Dakota men’s basketball team will take on The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in a non-conference matchup at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on Nov. 10.

Ticket information and game time will be announced at a later date.

This matchup will mark the 12th time South Dakota will compete at the Sanford Pentagon. In their most recent trip to the Pentagon, the Coyotes defeated the Air Force Academy 59-53 in their 2021-22 season opener. In the 2020-21 season, South Dakota faced South Dakota State inside the Pentagon and took home a 91-78 win over the Jackrabbits.

“We are excited to continue our relationship with Sanford and the Pentagon,” said head coach Eric Peterson. “Every time we have played there it has been a tremendous experience for our team. The game is also a great way to engage our alumni, donors and fans in Sioux Falls.”

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, a member of the Western Athletic Conference, finished the 2022-23 season with a 15-17 record. Matt Figger enters his third season as head coach of the Vaqueros.

UTRGV and South Dakota are former Great West Conference opponents, competing five times during the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons. South Dakota leads the series 4-1 and all five games have been decided by six points or less.
