— The Minnesota Twins picked up a 2-0 win on Saturday night vs. the Athletics. Alan Roden ended a season-high 14 inning scoreless streak for Minnesota with a two out, two RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning to score Josh Bell and Royce Lewis for the only runs of the game. The Twins allowed just three hits on the night, including four shutout innings from starter Kendry Rojas. Minnesota improves to 52-54 on the season and is within two games of Boston for the final Wild Card spot in the American League after the Red Sox lost at Toronto 6-0. The Twins look for a series win vs. the A’s on Sunday at 1:10 pm.

— San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan suffered a concussion and other injuries in a car crash earlier this month that will limit his participation at the start of training camp, the team announced Saturday, when camp opened. The two-car accident happened on July 14 in Palo Alto, leading to Shanahan being taken to the hospital. The other driver was not hospitalized. There was no evidence that either driver was impaired and that both cooperated with police. No one was cited in the collision. 49ers general manager John Lynch said Shanahan sustained a concussion, along with a broken nose, broken ribs and an injured hand.

— PGA Tour rookie Jackson Koivun has taken control of the 3M Open. The 21-year-old fired a tournament-record 61 in the third round Saturday at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota, moving to 20-under par and opening a three-stroke lead. Koivun set a 3M Open record with a 28 on the back nine, highlighted by two eagles and six birdies. Emiliano Grillo and Ben Kohles are tied for second at 17-under. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is six shots back, tied for ninth after a third-round 64. Koivun, who turned professional last month after a standout college career at Auburn, will look for his first PGA Tour victory in Sunday’s final round.

— Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani is delaying his return to the mound until his irritated left knee feels completely healthy. Ohtani skipped a scheduled bullpen session Saturday, and the team will not have him throw again until both Ohtani and the Dodgers are fully confident. Ohtani last pitched July 3 and recently received a lubricant injection in his knee. He threw a bullpen session Wednesday but experienced some discomfort afterward. The Dodgers say the knee has not affected his hitting, and he remains in the lineup. Ohtani is 8-2 with a 1.79 ERA this season as a pitcher, while also hitting .286 with 22 home runs and 61 RBIs.
