NFL
— The Minnesota Vikings acquired 13-year veteran wide receiver Adam Thielen, who has the third-most catches in franchise history, in a trade with the Carolina Panthers on Wednesday. The Vikings sent a 2026 fifth-round draft pick and a 2027 fourth-round pick to the Panthers for Thielen. The Vikings also receive a 2026 seventh-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick in the deal. Thielen, who turned 35 last week, was set to make $8.7 million this season, of which the Panthers already had paid out $1.7 million. The Vikings will assume the remaining $7 million on the contract.

— Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has been suspended six games for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy, keeping him out of a series of high-profile games starting with next week’s season opener against the Chargers in Brazil. Rice pleaded guilty about six weeks ago to two third-degree felony charges of collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury. As part of his plea agreement from the March 2024 crash on a Dallas highway, Rice also received a sentence of five years of deferred probation and 30 days in jail as a condition of his probation. The NFL handed down its suspension, which Rice will not appeal, after its own internal investigation.

— Kyle Hamilton and the Baltimore Ravens agreed to a four-year, $100 million contract extension with the star safety. The deal includes $82 million guaranteed. Hamilton is entering his fourth NFL season and he has helped the Ravens to NFC North titles each of the past two years. He has made two Pro Bowls and was named an All-Pro in 2023.

— The NFL is easing some of its restrictions on Tom Brady as he prepares for his second season as Fox Sports’ top analyst. The league will allow Brady to participate in production meetings with teams, as long as they are conducted virtually or via Zoom. He still isn’t allowed to watch practices or set foot in a team’s training complex. The rules were put in place due to Brady having a 5% stake as a limited owner in the Las Vegas Raiders. Brady was allowed to attend production meetings with Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles players and coaches before Super Bowl 59, but wasn’t able to view practices.

— Former Broncos, Bears and Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler will spend four days in jail after pleading guilty to driving under the influence. The 42-year-old Cutler was arrested in October after he rear-ended another vehicle with his pickup truck. Police said Cutler smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and was slurring his words. Cutler offered the other driver $2,000 to not call the police and to let him drive away. He refused a field sobriety test and was taken to a hospital, where a blood sample was obtained after getting a search warrant. Police said they also found two firearms in the car, including a loaded pistol.

— Harvard and Yale will play football at Fenway Park next season, the second time the rivalry has moved to the historic home of the Boston Red Sox. The Nov. 21, 2026, game will be the 142nd meeting between the Ivy League schools, the third most-played rivalry in college football.

Air Force began sales in 2017 and Navy in 2021. Fans will be able to purchase beer and ready-to-drink cocktails with a limit of two drinks per transaction.

NBA
— Dawn Staley, head coach of South Carolina’s women’s basketball team, revealed she interviewed for the New York Knicks’ head coaching job and would have accepted the position if offered. Staley, a Hall of Famer with three NCAA championships, believes she did well in the interview but possibly hurt her chances by asking tough questions, specifically, whether the Knicks were truly prepared for the challenges of hiring the NBA’s first full-time female head coach. Ultimately, the Knicks hired Mike Brown in July.

NHL
— The San Jose City Council unanimously approved a deal Tuesday to renovate the Sharks’ arena and keep the hockey team in the city until 2051. The Mayor and all 10 council members approved the deal that commits the city to investing $325 million to upgrade the 32-year-old SAP Center owned by the city with the team owner contributing an additional $100 million. Plattner has already invested more than $100 million on arena upgrades over the last decade. The Sharks began as a franchise in 1991 and moved into their arena in downtown San Jose in 1993.
