— Mitchell Kernels boys basketball travels to Pierre on Friday night at 7 pm.
— Mitchell Kernels girls wrestling will compete at the Region 3A Tournament on Friday at 3 pm at Mitchell High School. The boys also host the Region 3A Tournament on Saturday at 10 am at Mitchell High School.
— Mitchell Marlins boys hockey will be at Aberdeen on Friday at 8:30 pm.
— Mitchell Marlins girls hockey host Sioux Center, Iowa on Saturday at Nonn, followed by the regular season finale on Sunday vs. Brookings at Noon.
DAKOTA WESLEYAN
— No. 9 Dakota Wesleyan women’s basketball lost at home on Wednesday night to No. 1 Dordt 65-59. The Tigers held a 31-22 halftime lead before getting outscored by 15 points in the second half. Macy Sievers led Dordt with a game-high 27 points, while Emma Yost lead DWU with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Avery Broughton also finished with a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds. The Tigers fall to 21-6 on the season and 17-4 in the GPAC. They end the regular season on Saturday at Northwestern at 5 pm.
— Dakota Wesleyan men’s basketball lost its home finale on Wednesday night to Dordt, 92-91 in overtime. Steele Morgan led the Tigers with 26 points and six rebounds on 10-fo-14 shooting, while Anthony Riggans added 22 points and seven rebounds. With the loss, DWU falls to 9-10 in the GPAC into seventh place. The Tigers end the regular season on Saturday at Northwestern at 6:45 pm.
— Dakota Wesleyan softball heads to Jamestown, N.D., this weekend for four games. DWU takes on Minot State on Friday at 3:30 pm, followed by Dickinson State at 6 pm.
— Dakota Wesleyan baseball will be at York (Neb.) for a pair of doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday starting at Noon.
SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
— South Dakota State men’s basketball lost to Summit League leading North Dakota State on Wednesday night 74-66. The Jackrabbits are now 12-16 on the season and 5-8 in the Summit League. Matthew Mors and Damon Wilkinson led SDSU with 18 points. The Jacks host North Dakota on Saturday at 2 pm.
— South Dakota State lost at Incarnate Word on Wednesday, 19-18. The Jacks were down 7-0 after the first inning before taking an 18-16 lead in the seventh inning. The two teams combined for 37 runs on just 27 hits. SDSU starts a three game series at Tarleton State on Friday at 3 pm.
— South Dakota State women’s basketball will be at Oral Roberts on Thursday at 7 pm. The Jacks are tied with USD for second in the Summit League with a 10-2 conference record. NDSU leads the Summit League with a 12-0 record.
— South Dakota State softball travels to Murray, Kentucky, this weekend for four games. SDSU takes on Green Bay on Friday at 10 am, followed by Murray State at 3 pm.
SOUTH DAKOTA
— USD women’s basketball hosts Omaha on Thursday at 7 pm. The Coyotes are 10-2 in the Summit League, tied with SDSU for second place behind North Dakota State.
— USD men’s basketball will be at Denver on Thursday at 8 pm CST. The Coyotes are in fifth place in the Summit League with a 6-6 conference record, just a half game ahead of Denver.
— USD softball travels to Arlington, Texas this weekend with five games on the schedule. The Coyotes face Wichita State on Friday at 10 am, followed by Creighton at 12:30 pm.
OLYMPICS
— The U.S. and Canada have advanced to the Olympic men’s hockey semifinals after dramatic quarterfinal wins. The U.S. overcame Sweden 2-1 in overtime, while Canada survived a scare against Czech Republic, winning in overtime for a 4-3 victory. In Friday’s semifinals, the U.S. will face Slovakia, while Canada meets Finland.
NFL
— The Seattle Seahawks are going up for sale in accordance with the wishes of late team owner Paul Allen. Allen’s estate announced Wednesday that it has begun the process of selling the team, which is coming off its second Super Bowl victory in franchise history. The Seahawks have been in the Allen family since 1997, when Paul bought the team for $194 million. The Seahawks also have a lease at Lumen Field that runs through 2032 with three 10-year options.
— The former girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice alleges in a lawsuit filed this week that he physically assaulted her multiple times over a year-and-a-half, causing injuries that included bleeding and bruising. The lawsuit filed this week by Dacoda Jones comes after she made domestic violence allegations in a series of social media posts last month. She is seeking over $1 million in the lawsuit, which says the assaults happened at their homes in Dallas and suburban Kansas City. The lawsuit says Rice strangled Jones in December 2023 after an “escalation in violent behavior” and then continued to assault her over the course of their relationship, through July 2025.
MLB
— Bruce Meyer has been promoted to interim executive director of the baseball players’ association, a day after Tony Clark’s forced resignation. It was a move for continuity ahead of the likely start in April of what figures to be contentious collective bargaining with team owners. Meyer is a 64-year-old veteran labor lawyer. He joined the union staff in 2018 and led negotiations through a 99-day lockout that led to a five-year agreement in March 2022.
COLLEGE BASKETBALL
— Green Bay head men’s basketball coach Doug Gottlieb has received a one-game suspension from the Horizon League for comments he made criticizing the officiating after a 75-72 loss to Milwaukee last Sunday. Gottlieb had slammed his hands on the table at one point in his postgame news conference while complaining about what he perceived as inconsistency in the officiating. The suspension will take effect for Friday when Green Bay visits Oakland. Gottlieb issued a statement Wednesday apologizing for his comments.
NBA
— Charlotte Hornets point guard LaMelo Ball was not injured after being involved in a two-car crash in downtown Charlotte on Wednesday. Ball appeared to be driving through an intersection when his camoflauge-colored, custom-made Hummer collided with another vehicle shortly before 5 p.m.
— Sacramento Kings center Domantas Sabonis and guard Zach LaVine will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgeries on Wednesday. Sabonis, a three-time All-Star, averaged 15 points and a team-leading 11 rebounds in 19 games this season. He was used sparingly since suffering a meniscus tear in November, playing in seven of Sacramento’s final eight games in January and appearing in only one game in February. Meanwhile, LaVine had surgery to repair a tendon on his right pinky finger. The 30-year-old guard averaged 19 points in 39 games.
