Mitchell, S.D. – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) released the post-season men’s basketball awards this morning and four Tigers earned honors. Jakob Dobney was named 2nd Team All-Conference, Randy Rosenquist Jr. was named Freshman of the Year and named to the honorable mention team, and Samuel Aslesen was named to the honorable mention team.
Jakob Dobney was the leading scorer for the Tigers this season with 15.8 points per game. To go along with his scoring, Dobney added 3.2 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game. The junior scored a season high 29 points in a win over Waldorf (12/16/23) and scored 15 or more points in nineteen games this season. This is the second time Dobney has earned GPAC Honors.
Randy Rosenquist Jr. earned the Freshman of the Year title after a stellar season at DWU. The freshman averaged 13 points a game and led the Tigers with 3.7 assists a game. Randy scored a career-high 39 points against a receiving votes Briar Cliff team. Randy led the team in total assists with 106 and an assist/turnover ratio of 2.12. Rosenquist Jr. was also named Honorable Mention.
Samuel Aslesen was named to the Honorable Mention team after leading the Tigers in total blocks and second in rebounds. Aslesen averaged 12 points per game on 45.5 percent from the floor to go with 5.9 boards. Sam finished third in the GPAC with in blocks per game with 1.9. Aslesen set a career high five blocks against Dakota State University in the first game of the season.
