Tigers place third at home invitational; Meyerink earns medalist honors

MITCHELL, S.D. — Dakota Wesleyan made the most of its home course, highlighted by an individual title from Allison Meyerink and a pair of top-three team finishes at the 2026 DWU Spring Invitational at Lakeview Municipal Golf Course.

Meyerink paced the Tigers by claiming medalist honors in the women’s division, finishing at 11-over-par across three rounds. She carded rounds of 4-over, 5-over and 2-over to hold off teammate Sara Sudenga, who placed second at 18-over.

Behind the duo, Dakota Wesleyan placed third as a team with a 54-hole total of 159-over. Dickinson State won the team title at 109-over, followed by Jamestown at 158-over, just one stroke ahead of the Tigers.

Dakotah Larson added a top-10 finish for DWU, tying for 10th at 33-over. Tessa Bulson (21st) and Jaida Young (23rd) rounded out the Tigers’ lineup.

On the men’s side, Dakota Wesleyan also turned in a strong showing, placing third with a team score of 29-over, trailing only Baker (13-over) and Mount Marty (26-over).

Dakota Munger led the Tigers, finishing second individually at 2-under-par. Munger posted consistent rounds of 1-under, even-par and 1-under to finish six shots behind tournament champion Gavin Dines of Baker.

Peyton Bettcher added a top-10 finish, tying for sixth at 4-over, while Ben Wilber (22nd, 16-over), Will Jarding (tied for 26th, 19-over) and Ryan Flannery (tied for 30th, 21-over) contributed to the team score.
