Tigers Push No. 7 Dordt to the Brink in Thrilling Battle

The Dakota Wesleyan Tigers (20-8, 13-7 GPAC) came close to pulling off an upset against No. 7-ranked Dordt University (26-2, 18-2 GPAC), falling 77-74 in a thrilling game on February 22, 2025, at the Corn Palace. Despite the loss, the Tigers showed great resilience and proved they could compete with the nation’s best.

Dordt started strong, shooting 63% in the first half and taking a 39-35 lead. The Tigers kept the game close, with Tampa Scott IV and Jakob Dobney leading the way. Scott’s sharpshooting and Dobney’s aggressive play helped keep Dakota Wesleyan within striking distance, setting the stage for an exciting second half.

In the second half, the Tigers turned up the intensity. Scott hit three three-pointers and finished with a game-high 24 points, while Dobney added 23, contributing with clutch free throws. The Tigers dominated on the boards, winning the rebounding battle 29-24 and outscoring Dordt 11-6 in second-chance points.

Although the Tigers fell short in the final moments, their performance showcased their toughness and determination as they head into the postseason.
