Recap – The Tigers were back at home after competing on the road down in Columbia. The Tigers hosted GPAC opponent Jamestown University this evening and looked to add a game to the win column. Jakob Dobney got the DWU offense on the board first after he snatched a loose ball and cooked all the way down the court to score a tough layup. This sparked a 15-4 run for the Tigers before Jamestown was able to score on back-to-back possessions. Randy Rosenquist Jr. drilled two three pointers in the run to help build the early lead. The Jimmies would call a timeout and slowed the Tigers down enough to cut the deficit to just three points however Dobney wasn’t going to let the Tigers lose the lead. Jakob would drill three-point bucket off an assist from Kallan Herman to extend the lead back out to two possessions. The Tigers looked to keep building on the lead, but the Jimmies had an answer for each bucket and eventually knotted up the score with DWU right before the halftime buzzer.

The Tigers opened the second half with a wide open lay in for Samuel Aslesen off a Dobney pass. Aslesen scored the next bucket for DWU as well, a deep three from the wing. Jamestown forced tough shots and turnovers for the Tigers and grabbed their first lead of the game with 17 minutes left on the clock. Dobney brough the ball up the court on the pursuing possession and for Blaze Lubbers for the slam and grabbed the lead back before the two teams traded blows. The second half alone saw 10 lead changes and seven ties as both offenses went at each other. With seven and a half minutes remaining and the shot clock winding down, the Tigers looked to Herman for a bucket and got just that. Randy Rosenquist Jr. found Herman open in the short corner for a jump shot and Herman scored it plus the foul. The made free throw put the Tigers out ahead by six again. The DWU offense had the momentum and built a 10-point lead with less than two minutes remaining, spearheaded by Dobney as he scored two buckets and threw out two assists before Jamestown called a full timeout with 1:29 on the clock. Dobney went to the charity stripe and put the Tigers on top by seven points. Jamestown got down to their end of the court and fed their center. As he went to make his move, Rosenquist Jr. snuck in and poked the ball out for what should have iced the game. Ethan Determan who came in and scored 11 points off the bench for DWU went to the line for some single bonus free throws but missed the first one. Jamestown sprinted down the floor and threw up a deep three that found the bottom of the net and cut the lead to only four points. The Jimmies looked to play Hack-a-Shaq and sent Dobney back to the line again. Jakob scored both the free throws, the last Tiger points to extend the lead out to six points again. In the closing seconds, the Jimmies went to their dribble drive offense, grabbed the offensive board for a kickout and hit the deep three and were fouled on the shot. Instead of being down three, Jamestown converted the four-point play and cut the lead to two. The Hack-a-Shaq plan worked for the Jimmies as they sent Dobney to the line for his eighth and ninth free throw attempts, both were missed. Jamestown drove the length of the court and threw up the last second shot but was unable to score and the Tigers would walk out off the court with the big win at home.
