The Dakota Wesleyan Tigers (23-5, 18-4) pulled off a thrilling 76-66 overtime win over No. 1 ranked Dordt University (26-2, 20-2) on February 22, 2025, at the Corn Palace. This victory avenged their December loss to Dordt, as the Tigers rallied in the second half and overtime for a hard-fought win.
Dordt led by a slim margin after the first quarter, aided by a 6-point burst from Macy Sievers. However, Dakota Wesleyan fought back, with Avery Broughton scoring 11 points to keep the game close. The Tigers came out strong in the third quarter, outscoring Dordt 15-4, thanks to Shalayne Nagel and Rylee Rosenquist, who contributed 13 of those 15 points.
The momentum continued into the fourth quarter, where Rosenquist added six more points. Despite the Tigers’ efforts, Dordt tied the game at 59, forcing overtime. In the extra period, the Tigers dominated, outscoring Dordt 17-7, with Rosenquist scoring 10 of those 17 points to secure the win.
Dakota Wesleyan dominated the boards, out-rebounding Dordt 41-25 and limiting them to 18 points below their season average. Rylee Rosenquist led the Tigers with a double-double, scoring 25 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. She was 9-11 from the free-throw line.
With this win, Dakota Wesleyan improved to 46-34 all-time against Dordt and evened their season series. Next, the Tigers will host Doane in the first round of the GPAC Conference Tournament on February 26 at 7:00 p.m.
