Tigers Tie for Third at Kaitlyn Erickson Doane Invite

MITCHELL, S.D. – The Tigers women’s golf team traveled to Lincoln Nebraska to compete in the Kaitlyn Erickson Doane Invite. The course was played on the Wilderness Ridge golf course. The golfers who represented the Tigers, as a team, were Allison MeyerinkAshton AustreimSara SudengaKaylee JohnsonKelsey Morrison, and Kelsey Morrison.

Team Highlights:
– Allison Meyerink (Fr.) led the way for the Tigers. She tied for 9th overall. On day one of the invite Meyerink scored a +13, but on day two she bounced back and finished with a +7. Totaling her with a combined score of +20.
– Sara Sudenga (So.) wasn’t too far behind her teammate, Meyerink, to finish. She finished at 12th and found a way to climb up the leaderboard on day two. On day one she scored a total of +16, but on day one she found her rhythm and scored a +5. Allowing her to move up 11 spots to end the invite. Her total was +21.
– Kaylee Johnson (Sr.) had delivered a steady performance, finishing at 26th. She scored +18 on day one and improved with a +10 on day two. Moving two spots up from her starting position. Her total was +28.
– Ashton Austreim (Jr.) scored +18 on both days. Her total score was +36. Despite a challenging second day that saw her slip in the standings, she continued to compete and finished 43rd overall in a strong field.
– Kelsey Morrison (Jr.) returned to the starting line-up this invite. Morrison put together a solid effort finishing with a +46 overall. She posted a score of +24 on day one and followed it up with an improved score of +22 on day two.
Tigers Look Ahead:
The Tigers showed strong team play throughout the invite, tying for 3rd out of 14 teams. Most opponents being GPAC schools.

The women’s golf team competes next at the GPAC Championships. The tournament will take place in Cairo, Nebraska at Centura Hills golf course. The championship will be a stroke play on April 28 and 29. To receive live updates go to the DWU app or DWU athletics website to find more information.
