MITCHELL, S.D. – A trio of Dakota Wesleyan Tigers will be heading to Des Moines, Iowa to compete in one of the Midwest’s most prestigious track and field meets — the Drake Relays. Known for attracting world-class talent and providing a unique stage for collegiate athletes, the Drake Relays offer a rare opportunity for up-and-coming competitors to share the spotlight with Olympians and elite professionals.
Representing DWU at this year’s meet will be Abby Magnuson (Gr.) who will compete in the Shot Put, Cole Holden (Jr.) in the Javelin, and A’Johntez Moore (Fr.) in the Triple Jump. These athletes will not only test their skills on a high-caliber stage, but they’ll also gain valuable experience competing alongside some of the sport’s most decorated names.
Among the Olympians and elite athletes attending the meet are Tara Davis-Woodhall, a gold medalist in the long jump, and her husband Hunter Woodhall, a paralympian in the 400m. Both represent the United States. Also joining the track is Lauren Hoffman, a 400m hurdler competing for the Philippines. Curtis Thompson, the No. 14 ranked javelin thrower in the world. Will Williams, the 2025 U.S. indoor champion in the triple jump. Their presence adds an exciting layer of competition and inspiration for the next generation of athletes.
