DAKOTA WESLEYAN
Tiger Volleyball K–8th Grade Camp (June 10) Tuesday
This two-day camp is open to athletes entering grades K–8 (Fall 2025) and focuses on volleyball fundamentals, including passing, setting, serving, and hitting.
Grades K–5: 8:30–10:00 a.m.
Grades 6–8: 10:15 a.m.–12:15 p.m.

Men’s Basketball: Elite Camp (Saturday, June 14)
A high-intensity camp for high school athletes (classes of 2025–2028) seeking to compete at the next level. Includes drills, skill instruction, and evaluations by DWU coaching staff.

Football Prospect Camp (June 22) Sunday
Time: 11:00 a.m. – 4:45 p.m.
Open to athletes in grades 9–12
This camp offers college evaluation and instruction, including a combine assessment. Includes lunch, dinner, and a camp T-shirt.

Girls’ Basketball: Tiger Team Camp (Monday, June 30)
A great opportunity for girls’ basketball teams to compete in multiple games in one day.


MITCHELL KERNELS

— Mitchell will host a Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) football camp on Wednesday, June 25th from 9 am to 3 pm at Joe Quintal Field. Camp is for players entering grades 5-8 this fall and the cost is $20.

MINNESOTA TWINS
The Minnesota Twins start a three-game home series vs. the Texas Rangers on Tuesday at 6:40 pm at Target Field. The Twins are 35-30 on the season, seven game behind first place Detroit in the AL Central and in second place. They hold a one game lead over Cleveland and a 1 ½ game lead over Kansas City.

NFL

— Following the recent passing of Colts owner Jim Irsay, his three daughters are stepping up to lead the team as part of his transition plan. Carlie Irsay-Gordon is now CEO, Casey Foyt serves as executive vice president, and Kalen Jackson is chief brand officer. The sisters have been involved with the Colts for years, holding ownership titles since 2012 and working in various roles within the organization. Jim Irsay passed away last month at age 65 after battling health issues.

— The Green Bay Packers have released two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander, ending his seven-year tenure with the team. Alexander, once one of the NFL’s top corners, has played only 14 games combined the last two seasons. The move frees up about $17 million in cap space. Alexander was drafted in 2018 and made Pro Bowls in 2020 and 2022 but has played just 34 of the past 68 games.

— Jacksonville Jaguars punter Logan Cooke has signed a four-year, $16 million contract extension, making him the highest-paid punter in the NFL. Cooke, a second-team All-Pro and recent Pro Bowler, set career records last season with a net punting average of 44.8 yards, the best in the league since 1976.

— A Seattle man has been charged with a string of burglaries at the homes of prominent current and former football and baseball players, marking the latest example of well-known athletes being targeted in these types of thefts. 21-year-old Earl Riley IV was charged Friday with several counts of residential burglary in both occupied and unoccupied homes, along with first-degree robbery. Prosecutors say Riley was the ringleader in a series of burglaries that started in February and involved thefts from the homes of such players as Seattle Mariners Luis Castillo and Julio Rodriguez and former Seattle Seahawk Richard Sherman.


COLLEGE BASKETBALL

— Legendary college basketball broadcaster Dick Vitale has signed a contract extension with ESPN through the 2027-28 season. To honor his decades of impact, ESPN Events is launching the Dick Vitale Invitational, kicking off this November with a game between Duke and Texas in Charlotte, North Carolina. Vitale returned to broadcasting this past season after battling cancer for several years.

— Florida A&M University athletic director Angela Suggs was arrested Monday, accused of stealing over $24,000 using a corporate credit card for personal expenses at her previous job as CEO of the Florida Sports Foundation. Suggs faces felony charges of grand theft and scheme to defraud, plus misdemeanor counts of false travel claims. The investigation revealed she used the card for personal purchases, including casino trips, and falsified travel vouchers. Florida A&M says the case relates to her former employer and they are monitoring the situation.


NHL

— Former Sioux Falls Stampede and Washington Capitals star T.J. Oshie has officially announced his retirement after a 16-year NHL career. Oshie, known for his shootout goals at the 2014 Sochi Olympics and key role in the Capitals’ 2018 Stanley Cup win, made the announcement Monday at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. The 38-year-old missed much of last season due to a persistent back injury and had hinted retirement was near. Drafted in 2005, Oshie played over 1,100 NHL games with the St. Louis Blues and Capitals, finishing with 336 goals and 428 assists.


MLB

— All-Star right-hander Corbin Burnes of the Arizona Diamondbacks is set to undergo Tommy John elbow surgery, ending his season early in the first year of a $210 million, six-year contract. It’s the richest deal in team history. The 30-year-old exited his most recent start with Arizona, a week ago Sunday in the fifth inning.

— The attorney for Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco says he will ask the court to exonerate his client in a sexual abuse case involving a 14-year-old girl. Franco faces charges including sexual exploitation, human trafficking, and money laundering, and could face up to 30 years in prison. Prosecutors claim evidence includes witness testimony and financial transactions linked to the alleged abuse. Franco’s lawyer insists his client is innocent and denies Franco possessed a handgun for which he was also charged. Franco’s career has been on hold since August 2023, following his arrest in the Dominican Republic.

MLB
— The Boston Red Sox called up top prospect Roman Anthony two days after the 21-year-old outfielder hit a 497-foot grand slam for Triple-A Worcester. A second-round pick in the 2022 amateur draft, Anthony hit .288 with 10 homers and 29 RBIs in 58 games in Triple-A this season. He was 0-for-4 on Monday night in his major league debut with a walk and an RBI groundout. He also committed an error in right field.

— Jake Mangum had four hits, and Junior Caminero drew a bases-loaded walk in the 11th inning as the Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Boston Red Sox 10-8.

— The Dodgers Andy Pages led off the 10th inning with an RBI double before scoring on Tommy Edman’s single as Los Angeles hung on to open their season series against the San Diego Padres with an 8-7 victory. Will Smith homered and drove in three runs in the first of seven meetings in 11 days between the NL West division rivals.

— Josh Naylor hit a game-ending grand slam in the 11th inning as the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Seattle Mariners 8-4 after blowing a four-run lead. Corbin Carroll had a leadoff homer and Naylor had three hits and five RBIs for the Diamondbacks.

— Chris Sale struck out a season-high 11 while allowing just one run over seven innings as the Atlanta Braves snapped a seven-game losing streak by beating the Milwaukee Brewers 7-1. Matt Olson, Ronald Acuña Jr. and Eli White homered to make sure the Braves avoided their first eight-game losing streak since 2016.

— Brandon Marsh singled home the winning run in the 11th inning after the Philadelphia Phillies used two bunt hits to load the bases and beat the Chicago Cubs 4-3.

— Cincinnati’s Jake Fraley had three hits, including a home run in the fourth inning, while Wade Miley got his first win since 2023 as the Reds beat Cleveland 7-4 in Terry Francona’s return to Progressive Field. Francona managed Cleveland for 11 seasons from 2013-23 before being hired by the Reds last October.

— Bryan Reynolds hit a bases-loaded triple to cap a four-run third inning as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Miami Marlins 10-3 for their season-high fourth straight win.

— Alejandro Kirk homered and had four hits, including a go-ahead double in the 10th inning as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 5-4.

— Yusei Kikuchi took a one-hit shutout into the eighth inning and Jo Adell homered and drove in three runs to help the Los Angeles Angels beat the Athletics 7-4.


SOCCER

— Philadelphia’s host city executive for the 2026 World Cup says organizers accept that an immigration crackdown by the U.S. federal government may be among the outside events that impact next year’s tournament. At a gathering of the 11 U.S. host city leaders on Monday, Meg Kane said, “We do not play a role necessarily in what is happening in terms of the decisions that are made.” The World Cup will be played at 16 stadiums in the U.S., Mexico and Canada from June 11 to July 19 next year, a tournament expanded to 48 nations and 104 games.
