COLLEGE SOFTBALL WORLD SERIES
— Oklahoma’s run of four straight Women’s College World Series titles ended when Lauren Allred’s walk-off sacrifice fly gave Texas Tech a 3-2 victory in the semifinals on Monday night. Texas Tech, in its first trip to the Women’s College World Series, will play Texas in the best-of-three championship series starting Wednesday. The Longhorns reached the finals for the third time in the past four years. They lost to Oklahoma in 2022 and 2024.

MLB
— The Kansas City Royals have called up top prospect Jac Caglianone in the hopes of jump-starting their offense as the slugging first baseman and outfielder is expected to make his major league debut on tonight in St. Louis. The 22-year-old Caglianone was the sixth overall pick out of Florida in last year’s amateur draft. In just 50 games between Double-A and Triple-A this season, Caglianone has hit 15 homers with 56 RBIs.

— Hall of Famer Randy Johnson’s No. 51 will be retired by the Seattle Mariners during a pregame ceremony next season, the team announced Monday. Johnson threw the first no-hitter in Mariners’ history on June 2, 1990, 35 years ago Monday, and in 1995 became their first Cy Young Award winner. The 61-year-old Johnson went 130-74 with a 3.42 ERA across 10 seasons with the Mariners.

—  New York Yankees, closer Luke Weaver is expected to miss four to six weeks because of a hamstring injury. Weaver suffered the injury over the weekend during the Yankees’ three-game series against the Dodgers. Weaver posted a 1.05 ERA and held opponents to a .412 OPS across 24 outings this season.

NFL
— Colorado head football coach Deion Sanders said he was “hurt” by reports that said his son Shedeur Sanders was unprepared during predraft meetings with NFL teams, but he also isn’t buying the validity of them, either. Shedeur Sanders, who had been widely expected to be a first-round pick, dropped all the way to the fifth round before he was selected by the Cleveland Browns. Shedeur Sanders is one of five quarterbacks competing for the team’s starting job, along with fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel and veterans Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and Deshaun Watson. Watson, however, is rehabbing from a second tear of his right Achilles tendon so his availability is in question.

NBA
— The Phoenix Suns have whittled their coaching search down to two candidates, with Cleveland Cavaliers assistants Johnnie Bryant and Jordan Ott making the cut. The Suns are looking for their fourth coach in four seasons after firing Mike Budenholzer following a 36-46 season that ended without a trip to the playoffs. Bryant and Ott are expected to meet with Suns management later this week.

TENNIS
— Coco Gauff earned her fifth consecutive trip to the French Open quarterfinals with a straight-set victory. Top-ranked Jannik Sinner’s advanced at the French Open is a 6-1, 6-3, 6-4 victory over No. 17 Andrey Rublev. The result on Monday night put Sinner back in the quarterfinals in Paris and extended his Grand Slam winning streak to 18 matches. Sinner won the U.S. Open last September and the Australian Open this January.
