— Due to heavy rainfall in Castlewood and surrounding areas, the District 1B amateur baseball tournament has been cut short. A storm on Sunday dropped nearly seven inches of rain, forcing the postponement of games and eventually leading to the cancellation of the final five matchups. As a result, Castlewood has been named the Eastern Dakota League district champions. The next three district representatives, Milbank, Lake Norden, and Clark, were selected based on their regular season standings. Elkton and Volga will face off in a “last chance” game for the final district spot tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Elkton.
NFL
— Police say a gunman who killed four people in a Manhattan skyscraper before taking his own life claimed to have a brain disease linked to contact sports and was trying to target the National Football League’s headquarters in the building. Investigators believe the gunman wanted to get up to the NFL’s offices on Monday but entered the wrong elevator. Shane Tamura had a note in his wallet that suggested he had a grievance against the NFL and asked that his brain be studied. He played high school football in California but never played in the NFL.
— Trey Hendrickson is ending his holdout and will report to the Cincinnati Bengals on Wednesday. Hendrickson is an All-Pro defensive end who led the NFL in sacks last season with 17 1/2. He is seeking a long-term extension with guaranteed money that matches what the league’s top pass rushers are earning. Even after he reports to camp, he is unlikely to participate in practice until a deal is in place.
— The Indianapolis Colts have signed left tackle Bernhard Raimann to a 4-year, $100 million contract extension. Raimann, a former tight end and 2022 third-round draft pick, has developed into a critical piece of the Colts’ offense. The extension prevents him from entering free agency next year.

Michael Lewis, from Denton, Texas, reached a deal with prosecutors in which he pleaded guilty to one felony count of stalking and one misdemeanor count of harassment.
