AMATEUR BASEBALL
Parkston Mudcats 5, Lesterville 4 – Will Jodozi with two RBI’s in the win for Parkston. Jeff Harris picked up the win, throwing three innings in relief with five strikeouts. The Mudcats improve to 10-8 on the season.
Dimock/Emery 9, Wynot (Neb.) 8 – Landon Waddell went 4-for-6 with four RBI’s. Braydon Kreofsky threw eight innings for Dimock/Emery, allowing six earned runs with 10 strikeouts.
Canova 9, Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks 1 – Jared Miller with a HR and two RBI’s for Canova, while Derek Miller was 2-for-4 with three RBI’s. Derek Miller threw a complete game, allowing one unearned run with seven strikeouts.
Flandreau Cardinals 3, Salem 1 – Keith Cutler with a pair of hits and two RBI’s for Flandreau. Jacob Vonberge had two hits for Salem.
Dell Rapids PBR 5, Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks 3 – Brett Mogan with 12 strikeouts in the win for PBR, who scored three runs in the ninth inning.
Colman A’s 15, Flandreau Blue Teal 14 – Corey Roach had six RBI’s for Colman.
Madison Dairy Queen 6, Dell Rapids Mudcats 3 – J.D. Kirchner struck out 13 batters for Madison, allowing three runs and five hits.

Scotland/Menno/Freeman/Canistota 6, Lennox 4 (8 innings) – Bryce Sattler threw all eight innings, allowing four runs and 10 hits with six strikeouts.
SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
— South Dakota State University’s Jackrabbit Club raised more than $2.7 million over the past fiscal year, marking the third straight year it’s topped the $2 million mark. That total, combined with proceeds from the annual scholarship auction, fully covers SDSU’s athletic scholarships. The Jackrabbit Club is the primary fundraising arm for student-athlete scholarships, and members also receive perks like priority seating and parking, exclusive events, and local discounts.

— Simeon Woods Richardson threw five scoreless innings for his third straight win as the Minnesota Twins beat the Chicago Cubs 8-1. Ryan Jeffers had three RBIs and the first of three homers for the Twins in a six-run eighth inning. Game two of the three game series is tonight at 6:40 pm.
WNBA
— Caitlin Clark picked Indiana teammate Aliyah Boston No. 1 while Napheesa Collier took her Unrivaled business partner Breanna Stewart first in the WNBA All-Star Game draft. Clark had the first overall pick by being No. 1 in the fan vote. Clark’s other starters were Sabrina Ionescu and A’ja Wilson. Collier took Allisha Gray and Paige Bueckers.
NBA
— Three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic has decided to delay a contract extension with the Denver Nuggets this summer. It doesn’t affect Jokic’s status in Denver in the short term. He has at least two years remaining on his deal. By waiting until next summer to sign, Jokic would be eligible to add four years to his existing deal at even more money than this summer’s extension would have guaranteed.
— Oklahoma City Thunder all-star forward Jalen Williams said he took nearly 30 painkilling injections in his injured right wrist to get through his team’s recent championship run. In a video posted to his YouTube page on Tuesday, Williams said he had been dealing with a sprained right wrist for much of the season. Williams had surgery to correct the injury last week.
— Dallas Mavericks All-Star Anthony Davis underwent a procedure to repair a detached retina that he suffered during the season. Davis is expected to be healthy for training camp, his first with the Mavs since being dealt to Dallas in the blockbuster trade that sent Luka Doncic to Los Angeles this past February.
NFL
— QB Kirk Cousins revealed on Netflix’s Quarterback series that he played through a right arm injury last season to avoid losing his starting job with the Atlanta Falcons to rookie Michael Penix Jr.. Cousins detailed suffering elbow and shoulder pain after a hard hit in Week 10. He later admitted feeling “a little misled” by Atlanta signing him in free agency, then drafting Penix 8th overall. The injury led to poor performance and eventually being benched.
— Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott says he’s a “full go” for training camp, declaring himself fully healthy after missing the final nine games last season with a hamstring injury that required surgery. He participated in all drills during the offseason, though some movement was limited by design. The Cowboys report to camp July 20 in Oxnard, California.
MLB
— Jacob Misiorowski bounced back after allowing a leadoff homer to Shohei Ohtani by striking out 12 in six innings as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Dodgers 3-1. The NL West-leading Dodgers have lost five straight.
— Patrick Bailey hit a three-run, inside-the-park home run with one out in the ninth inning, giving the San Francisco Giants a 4-3 win over Philadelphia. The Phillies Kyle Schwarber had two hits, including his team-leading 28th home run.
— Chris Bassitt pitched six innings and Davis Schneider hit a home run as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Chicago White Sox 6-1 in a game that was shortened to seven innings because of rain. The Blue Jays have won 10 games in a row, their longest win streak since 2015.
— Angel Martínez hit a grand slam off closer Josh Hader with two outs in the 10th inning to give the Cleveland Guardians a 10-6 win over the Houston Astros. José Ramírez and Brayan Rocchio also homered to help the Guardians beat the Astros for a second straight night after entering the series on a 10-game skid.
— The Royals Nick Loftin hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the seventh inning, then won it in the ninth with a one-out RBI single as Kansas City beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-3.
— Giancarlo Stanton hit a three-run homer and Austin Wells went deep for the third consecutive game as the Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners 10-3. Aaron Judge and Cal Raleigh traded late home runs, with Raleigh’s 36th of the season keeping the Seattle catcher two ahead of Judge for the major league lead.
— Juan Soto singled in the tiebreaking run in the 10th inning as the New York Mets hit three home runs in a 7-6 comeback victory over the Baltimore Orioles. New York trailed 6-2 in the eighth inning.
— The Miami Marlins extended their franchise-record road winning streak to 11 with a 12-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. It’s the longest road winning streak in the majors since the Phillies won 13 straight away from home in 2023.
— Colt Keith homered and drove in three runs as the Detroit Tigers won their fifth straight game, beating the Tampa Bay Rays 4-2. Detroit has outscored its opponents 19-6 in the winning streak, which started with a three-game sweep of Cleveland over the weekend.
— Brayan Bello struck out a season-high 10 in the first nine-inning complete game of his career, while Trevor Story hit a three-run homer as the Boston Red Sox beat the Colorado Rockies 10-2 for their fifth straight win.
— Nick Kurtz hit a grand slam, while Lawrence Butler homered twice as the Athletics beat the Atlanta Braves 10-1. The Braves have lost five straight and seven of eight.
— Luis Arraez homered leading off the seventh inning, while Jackson Merrill and Fernando Tatis Jr. made home run-robbing catches for the San Diego Padres, who beat Arizona 1-0.
— The Cardinals Brendan Donovan homered in a three-run third inning, while Lars Nootbaar hit a solo homer in the sixth, as St. Louis beat the Washington Nationals 4-2 in a game that started after a 2 hour, 19 minute rain delay.
— Nathan Eovaldi allowed one unearned run in six innings, while Jake Burger and Wyatt Langford each homered and drove in four runs, as the Texas Rangers blew out the Los Angeles Angels 13-1.
