Wessington Springs Claims Class B Boys Golf Title by One Shot over Hanson

Wessington Springs held on to win the Class B boys golf state championship by one shot over Hanson on Tuesday at the Brookings Country Club.

After starting the day with a nine shot lead, the Spartans finished +46 (478) over the two days. Hanson had the best team score in the second round with a +17 (233). Hamlin would finish three shots back in third place.

Individually, Gavin Colson of Sully Buttes had back-to-back 75’s to finish +6 over two days, two shots better than Chet Peterson of Ipswich (+8) and Taylor Kriech of Colman-Egan (+8).

Wessington Springs Blake Larson came into the day with a one shot lead after a 74 on Monday. Larson shot an 80 on Tuesday to finish tied for fourth overall with a +10 over two days.

Hanson’s Ben Wilber dropped nine shots from his first round score with a +2 (74) on Tuesday. Wilber finished tied for eight at +13, along with his brother A.J. Wilber.
