A drier pattern to continue across the Heartland; temperatures to vary

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or above-normal temperatures nationwide, except for cooler-than-normal conditions from the middle Mississippi and Tennessee Valleys into the lower Great Lakes region and the middle and northern Atlantic States. 

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal rainfall in most areas between the Rockies and Appalachians should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather along the Atlantic Seaboard and across much of the West and Southeast.
