Dakota Wesleyan suffered its first conference loss of the season on Saturday, falling to Midland 49-0 in Great Plains Athletic Conference football action in Fremont, Nebraska.
The Tigers (3-2, 3-1 GPAC) were held scoreless as Midland (5-0, 4-0) scored in every quarter, including 21 points in the second to take a 28-0 halftime lead.
Midland quarterback Brodey Johnson threw four touchdown passes, connecting twice with Jurrion Dickey and twice with TJ Covington. Johnson finished with 306 passing yards, while Covington caught seven passes for 144 yards. Elliot Beister added a 95-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Dakota Wesleyan finished with 160 yards of total offense, including just 1 yard rushing. Quarterback Jed Jenson completed 13 of 32 passes for 159 yards with two interceptions.
Caleb Kilbride led the Tigers with four catches for 87 yards. Trevor Sladky recorded 11 total tackles, while Ashton Munsell added 10.
Midland outgained Dakota Wesleyan 612-160 and held the ball for nearly 32 minutes.
Dakota Wesleyan returns to action next Saturday at Morningside at 1:30 pm.
