A shift in acres is likely in 2019

Another year of large corn and soybean crops combined with trade uncertainties is adding more pressure to commodity prices.

Sam Miller with BMO Harris says soybean farmers have been hit especially hard.  “Soybean supplies are expected to be record large,” he says.  “A record large carry-over crop and a record large crop.  And potentially a record large yield per acre.”

In recent years, farmers have shifted more acres to soybeans to help improve their bottom line.
