The Chair of the Senate Ag Committee has filed an amendment to restore urban agricultural funding for the next fiscal year.
Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow says the $8.5 million would restore the Office of Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production and its programs. Funding was not included in previous ag appropriation bills in either chamber but was approved for $9 million in fiscal year 2023.
The office was created in the 2018 Farm Bill and has invested more than $50 million in more than 230 projects across the country.
