Cattle futures slide into the weekend

At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live cattle closed steady to lower on the lack of strength in the cash trade and long-term demand concerns.  Feeder cattle futures were lower on the same factors with additional pressure early in the day from the initial gains in corn and couldn’t recover from technical weakness.  October live cattle were unchanged at $106.75 and December contracts closed $.17 lower at $111.45.  September feeder cattle closed $1.42 lower at $138.45 and October contracts closed $1.37 lower at $138.25.
