Connecting soil health and economic profitability  

The Soil Health Partnership is working with farmers to link management practices like reduced tillage and cover crops to economic profitability.

Illinois field manager Abigail Peterson says improving soil health isn’t enough for farmers facing low commodity prices.

“Being able to measure what those economics are and if this a feasible option in their areas is how they are going to adopt it,” she says.

She tells brownfield the on-farm research helps farmers determine if soil health practices will also improve their bottom line.
