Drought conditions continue to take a toll on Nebraska crops.
USDA statistician Nicholas Streff says topsoil moisture is 46% very short and 35% short with only 19% of the cropland having adequate moisture.
Only 29% of Nebraska’s corn is in good condition, with 27% in fair condition, and 34% in poor or very poor condition. Eighty-nine percent of the corn is in the dough stage with 59% dented.
Thirty-four percent of the state’s soybeans are in good condition with 29% rated fair, and 28% of the beans in either poor or very poor condition.
