The lack of moisture continues to impact Illinois crops. USDA reporters say much of the state is more than 50% short of average rainfall, and crops are very dry. Only 11% of the state’s topsoil moisture is rated adequate, with 50% short of moisture, and 39% very short with similar subsoil measurements.
Only 21% of the corn in Illinois is rated good, with 5% excellent. 47% of the corn crop is rated fair and 21% poor.
