Dry conditions continue to impact Illinois crops

The lack of moisture continues to impact Illinois crops.  USDA reporters say much of the state is more than 50% short of average rainfall, and crops are very dry.  Only 11% of the state’s topsoil moisture is rated adequate, with 50% short of moisture, and 39% very short with similar subsoil measurements.

Only 21% of the corn in Illinois is rated good, with 5% excellent.  47% of the corn crop is rated fair and 21% poor.
