DuPont/ADM launches plant for potential new market for corn

DuPont and Archer Daniels Midland have begun a first-of-its-kind pilot project to produce a renewable source of FDME at an ADM plant in Decatur, Illinois.

“We’ve been working with ADM now for several years to develop a new process to take fructose made from cornstarch and transform it into a chemical that can be used to make high performance plastics. The name of that chemical is FDME,” says Mark Salzberg, Global DuPont director for biomaterials at DuPont Industrial BioSciences.
