Essential repairs coming to Illinois River locks and dams

The US Army Corps

of Engineers says some locks and dams on the Illinois River will be closed for at

least three months in 2020 for needed repairs.  

Dennis Shannon with the Corps’ Rock Island District says the LaGrange lock and dam built in the 1930’s will get the most work.

“They’re going to be doing concrete work, replacing miter gates, dewatering the lock chamber, all of the electrical will be re-done.
