Farm bill listening session coming to MO State Fair

Agriculture groups are preparing for the farm bill listening session coming to the Missouri State Fair on Monday.

Missouri Congressmen Mark Alford and Blaine Leutkemeyer are hosting the event and House Ag Committee Chairman Glenn “GT” Thompson is expected to attend.

Missouri Pork Association Executive Director Don Nikodim says the state’s pork producers aren’t asking for much in the new farm bill.

“I think awareness for African Swine Fever and making sure we have the resources in case it ever gets here and then, anything that deals with disease.”

Garrett Hawkins with Missouri Farm Bureau tells Brownfield it’s not the first-time House Ag Committee Chairman Thompson has been to Missouri to meet with farmers.
