Illinois Ag Department enforces state dicamba restrictions

Illinois farmers will be required to follow state specific dicamba guidelines this year.

The Illinois Department of Agriculture announced one of the restrictions will be an application cut-off of June 30th.

“The product cannot be applied when wind is blowing towards adjacent residential areas. Before making an application of these products, applicators must consult with FieldWatch Sensitive Crop Registry.”

Warren Goetsch, Deputy Director for the department tells Brownfield the state requirements also include maintaining downwind buffers specified on the label near Illinois Nature Preserves Commission sites, and applying only when wind is blowing AWAY from sensitive areas such as bodies of water and sensitive plants.
