A western Indiana farmer says consistent rain has kept him out of the field.
Kevin Cox tells Brownfield planting early benefited him.
“The stuff that was planted early looks fantastic. Got it in, got a good stand, got good emergence and things took off and growing,” he said. “Well, anything that was planted around here on Mother’s Day weekend at 11th, 12th or 13th, it’s just really struggling.”
According to the latest crop report from the USDA, 87 percent of Indiana’s corn has been planted, 14 percent behind last year and 7 percent ahead of the 5-year average.
